Why TrueCost exists
Many financial tools stop at the most convenient number: a loan payment without ownership costs, a salary without hours, or an investment projection without separating deposits from growth. TrueCost is designed to make the surrounding costs and assumptions easier to see.
The goal is not to make a decision for you. It is to give you a clear, editable model so you can compare options with better context.
How the tools are built
- Standard formulas are kept separate from the interface and tested against representative cases.
- Defaults are starting points, never hidden recommendations.
- Results include breakdowns and explanations instead of relying on one headline number.
- Calculator inputs stay in your browser; TrueCost does not require an account.
About this beta
TrueCost is an independent calculator project. This public beta uses no accounts or database of calculator inputs, and ads are currently disabled. It does not claim professional credentials or outside review that have not been documented.
What TrueCost is not
TrueCost is not a lender, broker, financial planner, tax adviser, or investment adviser. Calculations are educational estimates based on the information you enter. Important decisions deserve independent verification with qualified professionals and current quotes.
